Description
The Millennium Excellence Award Program provides merit scholarships to students from across Canada who demonstrate leadership, community service, academic success and an interest in innovation. There are two main awards – an entrance award for students just entering university or college and an in-course award for students who have already commenced their post-secondary studies.
The Canada Millennium Scholarship Foundation is currently seeking an energetic candidate to fill a seven and a half month position with the Millennium Excellence Award Program. This individual will assist to develop, organize, implement and evaluate the Foundation’s sixth annual conference for our top award winners.
Mission
Think Again is a unique pan-Canadian opportunity that supports and encourages excellence award laureates in their civic engagement and creative leadership. The conference presents laureates with issues from a different angle, encouraging them to challenge preconceptions, to generate new ideas and to network, in order to create social change.

Working with the Foundation’s Policy Officer, the position will include providing input into conference programming as well as serving as a liaison with presenters, Advisory Committee and Idea Team members, other Excellence Award Team members, laureates and outside service providers.

This position’s main tasks are to:
• Research and recruit volunteer speakers while respecting deadlines;
• Research and gather appropriate conference supporting materials for breakout and plenary sessions;
• Aid in the establishment of a pre-conference preparation program for the laureates;
• Assist with the design and creation of the conference manual (research and writing);
• Aid in the post-conference follow-up activities;
• Attend the conference and work with the Event coordinator and the Policy Officer;
• Compile the laureate and presenters’ evaluations after the conference.
We are looking for a candidate with: an interest in and understanding of the issues which are most important to students and citizens today, with excellent organizational skills, wide and diverse networks of contacts upon whom to draw experience, a strong commitment to leadership, social innovation and community engagement, experience in organizing large conferences (please detail event management experience), experience working on a conference website and with conference management software.
