Freelance journalist/editor
September 24, 2013 12:57 PM

I'm available for paid writing gigs; my background is primarily in journalism, though I've done corporate research and PR writing as well.

I've been a business reporter and editor for 10+ years. In 2012, I voluntarily left a good position at a daily print paper to strike out as a freelance writer. Most of my work so far has been for regional publications (including my former paper) or niche magazines. I'm open to more of the same, and am also looking to expand to new print, online and broadcast outlets.

Among my strengths: Deep knowledge of SEC filings, public records, the money side of health care, the financial sector. I'm very experienced with data-driven analysis, using my low-level SQL and high-level Excel skills. I write clearly and to the length agreed to at the outset. I can quickly turn around complex stories on a tight deadline.

Though I come from a print/online background, I also have a current regular gig at a radio station. I'm very skilled at writing for broadcast and I have video and audio editing abilities.

Since I do somewhat segregate my Metafilter account from the rest of my personal info, please mefi mail me if you'd like to see my LinkedIn resume or if you're interested in clips or references.
