Join the University's IT team! We are looking for a Unix Systems Administrator to work as part of the Information Technology department at the University.
Summary
- Designs, implements and supports effective operation of IT systems and responds to client requests and concerns as assigned
Essential Job Functions:
- Monitors and maintains assigned server(s) and applications and fine tunes system parameters and configuration to optimize performance and ensure security of systems
- Designs and implements system solutions based upon technological or client requirements
- Documents systems per department guidelines
- Manages and acts as a resource for system related projects
- Provides client assistance per assignments from the help desk system, tracking and closing requests per department guidelines
- Develops procedures for routine system administration
- Researches industry best practices to continue to deliver quality products and services to customers
- Performs other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of a bachelor's degree
- Moderate amount of experience working in IT systems administration or other related experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or greater in an applicable technology services field
- Experience working as a Unix system administrator
- Knowledge of system backup and recovery tools
- Working knowledge of networking and TCP/IP
Additional Requirements:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Works effectively with others as part of a team
