Web App Developer (Ruby)
February 27, 2012 5:26 AM

Odyl is a New York City-based web company located in Soho. We are focused on supporting the $30 billion book publishing industry, already supporting the social media for all of the largest book publishers in the country, including many #1 New York times bestselling authors (including Janet Evanovich, James Rollins, Diana Gabaldon). We're continually innovating ways for book readers to engage with their favorite authors.

Odyl is a growing company, we adhere to a lean, agile development philosophy. We embrace the cloud and deploy when things are ready, not at the end of the month. We're not afraid to try something new, and throw it out if it doesn't work. Our clients love us.

You are a sharp web developer who knows how to build web apps that are both tight and thoughtful. You use Facebook, and understand how it's a powerful tool for converting casual users into devoted fans. You've got opinions you're not afraid to give, and the conviction and knowledge to back them up. You write code that is concise and readable. You don't settle for "just make it work".

At Odyl, you'll be working on developing our consumer-facing social web apps and will have a real impact on tech decisions. Your background should include:

- A CS degree and/or real-world development experience
- Knowledge of Ruby, MySQL, HTML, CSS, and Javascript (jQuery)
- Strong communication abilities
- A willingness to learn

Even better, you:

- Understand the Facebook API
- Have experience working with git
- Have worked with Sinatra and Sequel on Ruby. If you're a Rails/ActiveRecord person, that's OK too.
- Have participated in agile/scrum-based development

This is a full-time job with compensation commensurate with experience. You must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

If you think you're the right person for us, send your resume to jobs@odyl.net, and specify "Application Developer" in the subject.

payscale: Commensurate with experience
