Mid-Level Web Developer

Traders Media is looking for a mid-level web developer to join our team in the Chicago loop. Come and work in a fun, fast-paced environment working share in the success of a small but rapidly growing company!
Currently most of our applications are in PHP, but applicants should be eager and able to learn new languages and technologies as they come up - we're always looking for better ways to do things! You'll be involved in all aspects of product development and deployment for our web applications. Because of our small size, you'll have the opportunity to take on a wider range of responsibilities than most web development positions offer - from programming to server configuration to database tuning to network design. If you're someone who is experienced with - or just interested in - several of these areas, then this may be the challenge you've been looking for.
Depending on the applicant's skill set, responsibilities may include:
- Designing and building web applications
- Assisting with application deployment procedures
- Building and deploying application servers
- Aiding in the ongoing design and maintenance of the office and colo facility networks
- Working directly with clients to implement custom web solutions
- Tuning web and database applications to avoid performance bottlenecks
- Monitoring applications and servers for stability
Required skills:
- PHP development
- Linux server environment
- PostgreSQL
- Experience with open source tools and server applications
- Able to pick up new things quickly
- Great personality
Additional experience in the following areas is a big plus:
- Linux system administration
- Network design
- Database administration
